Assistant Professor of Finance at Taylor University

As Assistant Professor of Finance, I am currently teaching a variety of finance courses as well as advising finance majors as they matriculate through their undergraduate program.

As Executive Director for Research and Scholarship, I oversee the mission and academic development of the Ron Blue Institute for Financial Planning at Indiana Wesleyan University. The Institute will serve as a nationally and internationally recognized source of authority, scholarship, and practice in the discipline and profession of biblically integrated financial planning and decision making.

What made you want to get into finance?
My background is quite diverse in the financial services industry. I started out in retail banking, then moved to financial advising, and then to teaching. One of the reasons I am in the financial services industry is that I felt I never received an education to manage money and made some bad mistakes once on my own. For this reason, I have sought to pursue a career that can help people understand how money works and the importance of our decisions in reaching financial goals and objectives.

What is your area of focus in finance?
I have spent the last several decades in the financial planning industry and am now moving toward the investment management world.

How did you get involved with CFA Society Indianapolis?
I am a Level 3 CFA Candidate and am planning to sit for my Level 3 exam in May 2022. I also recently joined the Board as a University Outreach committee member and am looking forward to further helping students. It has been refreshing to work through the CFA curriculum and at the same time find great content for my students at Taylor University.

Tell us more about you.
Besides working at Taylor University, I am a father of 7 kids (6 girls and 1 boy) and my wife and I will be celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary next year.
